THE ROLE:

Athletic Greens has experienced spectacular growth over the last few years, and we continue to lead all aspects of the plant-based essentialist nutrition revolution – from discovery and innovation to commercial production and consumer education. We are looking for an ambitious and self-driven Senior Manager of Sourcing (Natural Ingredients). In this role you will be responsible for evaluating, validating, negotiating and streamlining our bulk ingredients supply.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Strategically identify and develop key industry suppliers within the natural ingredient, nutraceutical and nutrition markets.
• Evaluate and assess technical advancements in the ingredients, food and nutrition industries at large and keep abreast of industry market trends and best practices.
• Develop and oversee commercialization strategies, set contract structures, and negotiate agreements with potential suppliers/partners to advance technologies and meet business objectives.
• Coordinate with our quality team and manufacturing partners to ensure ingredients are sourced and tested in alignment with AG’s standards and specifications.
• Responsible for supplier onboarding, performance management scorecards and audit processes.
• Establish and maintain preferred supplier lists. Ensure multiple sources for all ingredients.
• Assess and stay up to date on all crop seasonality, natural disasters, market fluctuations etc.
• Provide effective vendor and internal customer communications over multiple time zones and regions.
• Understand global ocean and air freight processes and work with Logistics to ensure that communication with vendors ensures prompt and efficient shipments.
• Negotiate pricing and work to reduce costs while maintaining or improving quality standards.
• Leverage sourcing volumes to reduce COGS and ensure stocks on hand.
• Partner, interface, and build relationships with internal customers to understand their requirements for products and services.
• Ensure that suppliers comply with all agreements and regulatory requirements for the products and/or services that they provide. Work closely with quality and sustainability departments.
• Exercise ethical business practices and work as an ambassador for Athletic Greens in all situations.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Minimum 5 years of management experience with natural ingredients in a technical, sourcing, or formulation/analytical role.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Masters or MBA a plus).
• Extensive knowledge of the nutraceutical and dietary supplement industries.
• Good understanding of testing and extraction methods, seasonality of crops and country of origin dynamics.
• Experience working with GMP, CGMP, FDA, USDA Organic, Non GMO and NSF with a strong background in botanicals, herbs, vitamins, minerals and probiotics.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Thrives in a fully remote cross functional environment.

• Experience in Global Sourcing and/or Supply Chain functions.
• Food/CPG/Agriculture industry experience a plus.
• Product development experience a plus.

• Hands-on experience with ERP software systems.
• NetSuite experience preferred.
• Slack and Asana experience a plus.
• A sense of ownership and pride in your performance.
• Critical thinker with creative problem-solving skills.
