Flywheel is seeking a Lead Android Developer to own ongoing development of its Android products, ranging from our Google Play mobile app to the on-bike streaming console for our FlyAnywhere product. This position will require contributions throughout the entire product development lifecycle from concept and requirement definition to delivery and ongoing maintenance, all within the context of an agile process. Our ideal candidate has a high standard for code quality, but also understands how to self-start and deliver within the timelines of the business. The candidate has experience in technical leadership and has demonstrated the ability to lead Android development teams that carry forth the standards and values mentioned above. This candidate thrives off of immersing themselves in the latest advancements of Android and leveraging these trends to continually improve the product experience. He/she has a strong command of best practices and tools available for optimizing applications for performance and stability. Requirements: 5+ years developing and testing applications built on the Android platform. Experience leading both in-house and external Android development teams and hiring talent Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and backend systems. Experience integrating with common Social APIs (eg. Facebook, Twitter, etc.) Well versed in the Android SDKs for Lollipop, Marshmallow, and Nougat Well versed in tools for monitoring app stability and user behavior (eg. Crashlytics, Localytics) Knowledge on how to integrate apps with streaming services and other rich media platforms. Proven strength in “lower level” Android concepts like monitoring memory usage, detecting leaks, performance testing, and system I/O. Bonus points: Experience in firmware development and testing, especially in the realm of IOT solutions Experience customizing AOSP builds for a richer, more distinctive, and more controlled user experience as well as automating the update/fix cycles for the custom builds. Proficiency in one other compiled or interpreted languages outside of Java
