Job Description The Data Specialist is responsible for all aspects of Esports One’s technical data acquisition and management. They are an essential member of the technology team who designs, creates, and maintains all company databases. Actively leads all data management activities for Esports One, including data architecture, analysis and design, database management, data quality management, data security management, and data governance. Develops all processes, scripts, and code necessary to consume data from both structured and semi-structured data sources. Analyzes data requirements and establishes data models that allow Esports One’s technologies to elicit maximum performance Ensures all data consumed and maintained by Esports One is of the highest possible quality Develops strategies and processes to ensure high availability, redundancy, and continuous availability of Esports One’s data Upgrades Esports One’s data infrastructure as necessary to ensure high performance and information security Augments business intelligence through data mining and analysis Collaborates across teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a wide assortment of development tools and technologies Understanding and implementation of information security and data protection Work remotely, but maintain continuous availability through Esports One’s collaboration technologies (i.e., Slack, Discord, etc) Personal Traits & Skills High energy collaborator, working across the entire organization as necessary to deliver amazing products Ability to work both independently and in a team environment Good scripting and programming skills Data-oriented personality Strong communication & organizational skills Passionate about learning / being involved with new technologies such as Computer Vision, OCR and Machine Learning Qualifications 1-3 years of relevant work experience Strong knowledge and experience administering relational databases, including MySQL (or MariaDB or PostgreSQL) on servers or services (AWS RDS) Working knowledge and experience with one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, C# Linux experience, preferably Ubuntu 16.04, 16.10, or 17.10 Experience developing processes and tools to scrape semi-structured data sources, including web pages Flexibility to work weekends and nights as required Nice to Have 2+ years of experience in gaming, esports or related industries Either live in the Greater Los Angeles or Washington, DC areas or open to relocating. Remote is acceptable, however. Experience with one or more of the following: API development and/or use, Elasticsearch, Web Development, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure Equity Available for this position, the exact amount will be discussed during interviews.
